I installed Mojave on this machine a while ago but never bothered to use T530 as a daily driver. <a href=\"\/reader?url=https%3A%2F%2Fm1q.net%2Fthinkpad-t530-hackintosh-catalina%2F#lame-intro\">Skip introduction<\/a> at your own risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here we are! The hacking part was quite easy this time. Few Kext updates and alongside Clover update did the job. I haven\u2019t edited the config.plist from Mojave installation as well. Luckily Apple didn\u2019t throw any kernel panic while testing. I did a Vanilla install by the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/mighil\/image\/upload\/v1578414208\/catalina-t530.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><figcaption>Behold, behold The mighty one!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Alright, let\u2019s dive in! Read the guide carefully if you\u2019re a beginner. Don\u2019t blame me if you f*ck up your current OS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t forget to fork or star my GitHub repo while you\u2019re at it. Please don\u2019t sell the EFI or use it on your YouTube video without giving credit to the original author. Don\u2019t be an A-hole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>My ThinkPad T530\u2032 Specs: <\/strong>i7 3740QM, 16GB Memory, 128GB SSD + 256GB SSD + 750GB HDD, NVIDIA NVS 5400M (N\/A for Hackintosh)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"attachment_11726\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/m1q.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/thinkpad-t530-catalina-kexts-folder.png\" alt=\"Search Results Web results Hackintosh | Installing Catalina on Lenovo T530\" \/><figcaption>The Kexts\/Other folder.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Doesn\u2019t Work?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Inbuilt WiFi card.<\/li><li>Mini DisplayPort.<\/li><li>Fingerprint reader (if you\u2019ve one).<\/li><li>Card reader.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">#README<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Proceed with caution.<\/li><li>Tested on macOS Catalina 10.15.2.<\/li><li>EFI folder is N\/A for Opencore bootloader. Go ahead though, if you know what you\u2019re doing.<\/li><li>Do a Vanilla install if possible. I haven\u2019t tested a direct update from Mojave.<\/li><li>The EFI folder is applicable to SSD hot-swap also. ie, if you\u2019re planning to swap SSD from a MacBook Pro to ThinkPad 530.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.toneden.io\/m1qnet\/post\/thinkpad-t530-hackintosh-efi-folder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Download The EFI folder for ThinkPad T530<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recommended BIOS settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disable dGPU:<\/strong> The process is quite simple. Go to BIOS Setup -&gt; Config -&gt; Display and set the Graphics Device as \u201cIntegrated Graphics.\u201d Also, disable the OS Detection for NVIDIA Optimus. Make sure it looks like the attached image below. Then, select Save &amp; Exit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/res.cloudinary.com\/mighil\/image\/upload\/c_thumb,w_600,g_face\/v1555925341\/blog\/ideal-bios-set-up-for-egpu-thinkpad530.jpg\" alt=\"ThinkPad T530 BIOS Display Settings for Hackintosh\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Select UEFI Only:<\/strong> Go to BIOS Settings \u2192 Startup, select UEFI only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Disable CSM Support: <\/strong>Do this if the USB doesn\u2019t boot initially. I\u2019ll share the installation guide for both macOS and Windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to create a bootable macOS Catalina 10.15 USB install drive? (on macOS)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/9to5mac.com\/2019\/06\/27\/how-to-create-a-bootable-macos-catalina-10-15-usb-install-drive-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Refer to this guide from 9to5mac<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong> Download and install Clover to USB.&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/hackintosh.gitbook.io\/-r-hackintosh-vanilla-desktop-guide\/clover-setup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Refer to this article for clarity.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mackie100projects.altervista.org\/download-clover-configurator\/\">Install Clover Configurator<\/a>, and mount the EFI partition. Then replace the EFI folder with the one on my repo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to create a bootable macOS Catalina 10.15 USB install drive? (on Windows)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1:<\/strong> Install <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acutesystems.com\/scrtm.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Transmac<\/a>&nbsp;on a Windows machine. It has a 15-day trial period and works flawlessly flashing DMG files to USB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2: <\/strong>Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/mirrors.dtops.cc\/iso\/MacOS\/daliansky_macos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">macOS 10.15.2 with clover dmg file from here<\/a>&nbsp;or other sources you come across Google SERP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong> Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toneden.io\/m1qnet\/post\/thinkpad-t530-hackintosh-efi-folder\">EFI folder<\/a> in my GitHub repo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4:<\/strong> Download <a href=\"https:\/\/mackie100projects.altervista.org\/download-clover-configurator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clover Configurator for macOS<\/a>&nbsp;(latest version).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 5:<\/strong> Connect a 16 GB USB flash drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 6:<\/strong> Open Transmac. In the left pane, right-click the USB Drive and select Format Disk for Mac<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again in the left pane, right-click the USB Drive and select Restore with Disk Image. Then select the DMG file I mentioned in (2). The flashing process will take a few minutes depending on the size of .dmg and speed\/port of the USB drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 7:<\/strong> Install <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diskgenius.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DiskGenius<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 8:<\/strong> Locate the USB drive in DiskGenius. Delete the EFI folder and replace it with the new EFI folder. <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/u15vmZ9obJY?t=75\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Refer to this part of a YouTube video for clarity<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 9:<\/strong> Plug the USB drive into the ThinkPad T530 and boot from USB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 10:<\/strong> Format the disk drive to APFS, install macOS Mojave and restart the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 11:<\/strong> Connect the Hackintosh system to the Internet via LAN cable, USB tethering or a Mac-compatible external WiFi adapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 12:<\/strong> Download &amp; install <a href=\"https:\/\/mackie100projects.altervista.org\/download-clover-configurator\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Clover Configurator<\/a> on MacOS.
